The Emporia Jr Spartan baseball team split a doubleheader with the Kansas Senators Tuesday night.
The Senators won the first game 15-4. The Senators scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning, then added 3 runs in the 4th and scored 4 runs in the 6th inning.
The Jr Spartans won the 2nd game 7-1 behind the pitching of Telo Trujillo who gave up 1 run on 4 hits with 10 strikeouts.
Offensively Luke Marshall drove in 2 runs.
Jackson Goodman also drove in 2 runs. Owen Ruge was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Andrew Ruxman scored 2 runs.
The Junior Spartans are now 3-1 for the season.
Coach Anthony Markowitz said they did show improvement from last week.
The Junior Spartans will play in a tournament at the Trusler Sports Complex Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday they play Fort Scott at 2:30 pm and Lawrence at 7 pm.
Sunday they play The Barn at 2:30 pm and McPherson at 4:45 pm.
