The city of Emporia says the final stage of work is getting underway on the Sixth Avenue waterline project between Lincoln and Woodland, meaning construction is done on the south side of the street affecting eastbound traffic and is now shifting to the north side of the street involving westbound traffic.
Westbound travel is down to one lane, while eastbound drivers will use two lanes.
The construction zone is set up so drivers can make left turns to cross West Sixth and use most side streets — some will be blocked — or get to businesses in the work zone.
