Cam Gallagher drove in 2 runs with a double in the 4th inning and doubled to drive in a run in the 6th inning.
Michael A. Taylor hit a 3-run home run in the 8th inning to cut the deficit to 8-7.
Royals manager Mike Matheny said there were too many mistakes.
