The Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Monday announced their 2022 class for induction. It includes 4 people with ties to Emporia, Former NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer, former Olpe Head Girls Basketball Coach Jesse Nelson, and former Emporia State basketball players Tara Holloway-Churchill and Emily Bloss-Carpenter.
The other members of the class are:
Former Kansas men’s basketball coach Roy Williams.
Former Kansas City Chief and Pittsburg State football player Kendall Gammon.
Former Wichita State head bowling coach Gordan Vadakin.
Negro leagues player and manager from Topeka, Elwood “Bingo” DeMoss.
Bill James – baseball writer, historian, and researcher.
and Grounds keeper George Toma, he was the head groundskeeper for both the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals along with over 50 super bowls, and 2 Olympics.
The Induction ceremony will be held Sunday, October 2nd at the Kansas Star Casino.
