Initial repairs are finished at the site of Emporia’s latest water main break.
The break developed on a 12-inch line underneath West 12th between Lawrence and Walnut. Reports started coming in around 6:30 pm, and it took several hours to get the line repaired.
The resulting cutout has forced Public Works to close 12th Avenue eastbound between Walnut and Washington a block to the east. It could be several days before the cutout is repaved.
It’s the latest notable water main break for the city, with breaks at 15th and Chestnut and Graphic Arts at US Highway 50 on Tuesday as well as Oak near Ninth on Thursday.
