Emporia’s Shiloh Home of Hope is busy this summer.
The facility entered the Fourth of July holiday period with a waiting list of women seeking services. Director Carol Alderman says women come to Shiloh from a variety of situations and circumstances.
Shiloh serves women in crisis, especially those among 18 years of age and those with young children. A key mission driver is to avoid children going into foster care or to reunite families.
Besides shelter, Shiloh offers continuing education and training in life skills and job skills. The ministry also includes the Family Life Services Pregnancy Center, which offers confidential pregnancy testing at no charge, counseling on abortion alternatives, finace and parenting classes and baby supplies as needed. Shiloh also has over 20 volunteers to help with mentoring and discipleship, according to Alderman.
Donations of baby clothes and medications are always needed. So are donations of formula as the direct result of the ongoing nationwide shortage
