The Jones Aquatic Center wants the community to show off its patriotism with a special parade on the Fourth of July.
The JAC will be hosting a bike parade Monday afternoon. Supervisor Jennifer Wegener says the event is targeted at children 12 years of age and younger, however, all are welcome to take part.
To participate, residents need to dress up their bikes in a patriotic fashion and be at the JAC at 12:30 pm. The parade will take place inside the aquatic center around the pool with prizes awarded to the best entries.
Normal pool hours will then resume following the parade from 1 to 6 pm.
Not only is it a part of Fourth of July festivities, the parade is also one of several events on the schedule celebrating the 20th anniversary of the JAC. A birthday celebration is planned for Jul. 30th from 1 to 6 pm.
Wegener says the party will include inflatables and complimentary cupcakes and beach balls for the first 200 guests to arrive. For more information visit EmporiaRec.org.
