The city of Emporia lit up the night sky with the annual Fourth of July fireworks display Sunday evening.
Once again, Emporia State University hosted the patriotic show with right around 900 fireworks discharged over the course of the 25-minute display. Local pyrotechnician Bernie Toso along with a cadre of volunteers oversaw the event.
Several hundred residents took in the sights on the Emporia State University campus from Jones Field, Witten Track and the practice fields on the north side of the campus.
In addition to Emporia, several neighboring communities also had their annual fireworks displays including the cities of Lebo and Admire and Chase County.
Council Grove will host its annual fireworks display Monday night beginning at 9:45 pm. Video from Sunday’s show can be found on our Facebook page @KVOENews
