In a back-and-forth affair, Toronto had the last at-bat and the last laugh, defeating Kansas City 6-5 in 10 innings Saturday.
The Royals led 1-0 and 3-1, but the Blue Jays came back both those times. Vinnie Pasquantino hit his third home run, a two-run blast, to give the Royals a 5-3 lead in the 10th, but Joel Payamps gave up three runs without recording an out in the bottom of the 10th.
Pasquantino and Bobby Witt Jr each had two hits, while Michael Massey had his first two hits as a big-leaguer.
The Royals try to go into the All-Star break with a win and a series split on Sunday. Kris Bubic gets the start for KC. First pitch is at 11:05 am, so we’ll join the game in progress following the First United Methodist Church weekly worship service on 14 KVOE and 96.9 FM.
