Blistering heat will combine with increasing humidity through the upcoming weekend.
Air temperatures will reach 99 degrees Friday, followed by a high of 102 Saturday and 100 Sunday. Heat index readings will be at or above 103 degrees all three days, prompting heat advisories areawide from noon Friday to Saturday evening. Given the forecast, the heat advisory could be extended to Sunday.
Thursday had a peak temperature of 101 with a peak heat index of 100, thanks to low humidity levels.
Slight to moderate thunderstorm chances begin Sunday night and continue for most of next week. High temperatures will be in the mid- and upper 90s.

Continued heat will combine with increasing humidity to make for miserable conditions across the KVOE listening area the next few days.
The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for all area counties Friday and Saturday, although the timing varies slightly at the end. Lyon and most surrounding counties are in an advisory from noon Friday to 9 pm Saturday. The exceptions, Chase and Greenwood counties, are in a separate advisory from noon Friday to 8 pm Saturday.
The Weather Service expects peak heat index readings from 102-109 both days.
