The Emporia Senior Spartan baseball team avoided elimination twice in a tournament at McPherson Thursday.
The Spartans defeated Junction City 3-2.
The Spartans scored a run in the 1st, Kolden Ryberg scored on a Hunter Redeker single.
They added a run in the 2nd inning, Cam Geitz scored on an Aaron Ross single.
The Spartans scored the third run on an error in the 6th inning.
Junction City scored both runs in the top of the 7th.
Hunter Redeker was the winning pitcher going 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits.
The Senior Spartans outscored Wamego 10-8.
They scored 5 runs in the first inning. Wamego would rally to take a 7-5 lead with 5 runs in the 3rd inning.
Emporia retook the lead for good with a 3-run 4th inning.
