Community groups planning events that could bring people to Emporia are told to reach out to Visit Emporia if they need some funding help for those activities — and to do so quickly.
Visit Emporia is nearing the end of its second application cycle for its tourism grant funds. Overall, it was developed to “enhance and strengthen the positive impact” of Emporia’s tourism industry. Specifically, Visit Emporia Director LeLan Dains says the program helps groups and organizations start or expand on events that bring people to town — sometimes from considerable distances.
Applications are due by 5 pm Monday. Applicants need to supply information about the event in question, projected budget and how the grant funding will be used.
