Formal charges are now on the books in Lyon County after an alleged shooting incident in southeast Emporia late last week.
Shedrick Williams, 27, and Keno Hopkins, 21, are both charged with single counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary and aggravated robbery. The robbery count has an alternate of aggravated robbery, inflicting bodily harm.
The legal complaint posted on the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal indicates Williams and Hopkins took a car, keys and/or a cell phone by force from Harold Stewart, Junior, on or around July 20. The complaint does not mention names of anybody allegedly shot and the affidavit has not been posted online.
First court appearances are coming at 1:15 pm Wednesday for both men.
Williams and Hopkins were recently arrested after an alleged shooting incident at Emporia’s Eastgate Plaza apartment complex early July 20. One person was taken to Newman Regional Health with apparently non-life-threatening injuries after the alleged incident. Emporia Police are still investigating and Lyon County Crime Stoppers has offered a reward for new information that helps to further the investigation.
