Ongoing issues with supplies, labor and weather have not done any favors to Project Playscape as the group works to finish a new baseball complex in Americus.
Spokesperson Britney Hinrichs says plans for a grand opening Saturday had to be changed as a result.
The plan has included two new ballfields instead of the previous one field.as well as new bleachers, lights, and a scoreboard. The project also has a new shelter house, renovated concessions and bathrooms and a new playground. Hinrichs says work remains on fencing, shell, the shelter house and bleachers.
The goal now is to have a soft opening Sept. 17 and a full-blown grand opening May 13. Spring 2023 activities might also include a celebration of Project Playscape’s current project — a new splash pad and resurfaced basketball court. Fundraising continues for that combined project. Information is on the Project Playscape Facebook page.
