Salvador Perez hit a 3-run home run in the top of the 9th lifting the Kansas City Royals to an 8-6 win over the New York Yankees Sunday.
The Royals scored 4 runs in the 5th inning. Nick Pratto drove in 2 runs with a bases-loaded single. Maikel Garcia doubled to drive in a run and Whit Merrifield drove in a run with a ground out.
The Yankees would rally to take a 6-4 lead with 3 runs in the 5th and 7th innings.
Hunter Dozier hit a solo home run in the 8th for the Royals to cut the deficit 6-5.
The Royals begin a 3 game series in Chicago with the White Sox Monday night. Brad Keller will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch set for 7:10 pm.
