A pretrial conference in federal court is next for a Chase County man accused of having and trying to distribute child pornography.
Walter Haskin waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday. At this time, federal court documents do not list the date or time for Haskin’s next hearing.
Haskin, age 26 of Strong City, is accused of trying to upload child porn involving a 6-year-old child to a Dropbox account in mid-November. He is also accused of having child porn images on his cell phone.
Baseline sentences are 5-20 years in federal prison for the attempted distribution count and up to 20 years in prison for the possession count upon conviction. Because Haskin is a registered sex offender, according to the federal complaint, Haskin could face 15-40 years in prison if convicted of attempted distribution and 10-20 years if convicted of possession.
