Assistant Emporia City Manager Lane Massey will be assuming a new role in a new city later this month.
The City of Emporia announced via a news release Friday Massey has accepted the position of city administrator in Spring Hill. He will assume his new duties beginning Aug. 15.
Massey has served as Assistant City Manager for the past five years having worked under longtime manager Mark McAnarney for the majority of that time before serving under current manager Trey Cocking for the past eight months.
Massey says “this was not an easy decision” given his love for the community and his co-workers, but says it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
Massey thanked the city and the community for its support over the past five years and says the community is on a positive trajectory that he is certain will continue under the current leadership.
Massey’s final day was Friday. A formal search for his replacement should begin in the coming weeks.
