Hope, horsepower and a love for local veterans all combined to make a tremendous new fundraiser Saturday at Soden’s Grove.
Beacon for Hope Suicide Prevention hosted its inaugural Hope With Horsepower car show and both the local and neighboring communities showed up to lend support to the cause. Hoping for at least 50 vehicles, Beacon for Hope Director Melissa Owen was smiling from ear to ear when more than 80 vehicles pulled into Soden’s Saturday.
Owen often speaks of how important it is for anyone struggling with mental health to have a strong support system in place. She says Saturday’s turnout was a shining example of what a strong support system looks like.
All proceeds from the show will go to benefit suicide prevention resources for area veterans. In addition to the numerous vehicles on display, the show included free rides on the Sertoma Club Train, vendors, music and food trucks. Fundraising totals are currently pending.
