One more day of sweltering heat is in the picture with our current heat wave.
Air temperatures will be close to 100 degrees by late afternoon, with heat index readings around 105. Heat advisories are back in place for all area counties, with Lyon and most surrounding counties in an advisory until 8 pm and the exceptions, Chase and Greenwood, in an advisory until 7 pm.
Saturday had a high of 103 and a peak heat index of 108, following a high of 99 and peak heat index reading of 106 Friday.
Chances of showers and storms aren’t great Monday and Tuesday, but they come with near-seasonal temperatures around 90. Temperatures begin climbing to the mid-90s by Thursday and upper 90s by the upcoming weekend.
