Court proceedings continue for Alan Alanis, one of six defendants in the Jesus Avila murder from nearly five years ago.’
On Friday, Lyon County Judge Merlin Wheeler set jury trial from Dec. 5-23 and a final pretrial hearing for 4 pm Nov. 30. Wheeler also set Sept. 30 as the deadline for filing pretrial motions.
Alanis waived the reading of rights, charges and maximum penalties during Friday’s hearing.
Alanis is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy on both the prior counts, arson and other counts in Avila’s death from September 2017. He pleaded not guilty to all counts against him during Friday’s proceedings.
