Earlier this year, a Lyon County jury acquitted Victor Cardona-Rivera on one aggravated battery charge but could not reach a verdict on eight other counts against him in a sexual assault trial. Another jury came to a very different conclusion last week.
The jury convicted Cardona-Rivera of all eight remaining counts against him, including two counts of rape and single counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, aggravated witness intimidation and aggravated burglary.
Sentencing is Sept. 21 at 11 am.
Cardona-Rivera was accused after an alleged incident almost a year ago. He was accused of getting inside an acquaintance’s home, threatening the woman and her toddler child with a knife and then raping the woman.
