If they haven’t already started, area school districts will be quite busy next week.
Classes begin next week for the vast majority of area districts, including USD 253 Emporia — which has its annual Jump Start for new students and transfers, either to the district as a whole or to buildings, on Tuesday — followed by the first official day of school Wednesday. Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder will have more on the start of the fall semester during the Emporia Showcase at 8:20 am Tuesday on KVOE.
One area district, USD 390 Eureka, begins Thursday, while USD 420 Osage City begins Friday and USD 251 North Lyon County doesn’t start until Aug. 25. Most area districts begin next week:
*Aug. 17: USD 252 Southern Lyon County, USD 386 Madison-Virgil
*Aug. 18: USD 243 Lebo-Waverly, USD 284 Chase County, USD 389 Hamilton, USD 417 Council Grove, USD 421 Lyndon, USD 434 Santa Fe Trail, USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley
Several districts, including USD 244 Burlington and USD 245 Southern Coffey County, have already started their fall terms.
