New valuation tax notices are coming soon to Lyon County residents.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat says the current plan is to have those mailed by Wednesday. City and county officials spent much of the past week reviewing the tax information after original notices went out — and after discovering incorrect numbers rooted in a formula error by the county’s vendor, Computer Information Concepts of Greeley, Colorado. The company has not responded to an interview request from KVOE News.
Lyon County is republishing its 2023 budget and the Emporia Recreation Commission, funded in part by USD 253 Emporia, will likely republish its 2023 budget after the error was discovered, although no changes are needed with either entity. USD 253 and the city of Emporia will not have to republish because they have not officially published their budgets.
