The Regional Development of East Central Kansas’ Board of Directors talked about a number of potential economic development projects during its meeting Friday morning.
RDA President Chuck Scott, a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show recently, is juggling a lot of potential projects at this time — although details are pending on almost all of them.
Scott says the RDA continues its focus on strategic planning continues. When Scott came on board as president at the start of the year, the RDA was into a strategic plan carrying the agency through 2024. Scott says the general direction has stayed the same since he took over for longtime president Kent Heermann, although the RDA has “inserted ourselves in conversations in several different arenas where we haven’t in the past.” He says the goal for the strategic plan is to continually review the document so the city and area can react to different changes and opportunities.
Scott also says the ongoing challenges of housing, childcare and labor availability remain, but Emporia is far from being alone with those challenges.
