The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and Joint Board of Zoning Appeals are set for meetings Tuesday.
The Board of Zoning Appeals is set to meet first, looking at requests for an accessory dwelling structure and signage above the maximum allowed number. Details on both applications have not been announced.
The Planning Commission’s meeting, meanwhile, is set to continue longstanding discussions on revised zoning regulations after the Emporia City Commission paused the work of legal consultant after three years of revisions. A second legal consultant is set to review the city’s zoning plan to see whether they are aligned with state statute. If they are, commissioners could well move forward with implementing the regulations as they currently stand. If not, Kaup continues the revision process.
The meeting is at 6 pm at the Municipal Court Room, and itt could well overlap another meeting at White Auditorium Tuesday. The City Engineering Office has a public information meeting at 6:30 pm to discuss road work on US Highway 50, also known as West Sixth, between Neosho and Prairie with construction set to begin next week. That meeting will be at City Conference Room 1AB.
