Now that it has been determined that Newman Regional Health can move towards purchasing a pair of C-arm X-ray machines instead of one, thanks to a record-breaking Denim and Diamonds effort, the process is pretty well determined for how to make that happen.
CEO Bob Wright tells KVOE News the total — over $203,000 — was a pleasant surprise to him and other hospital administrators.
Wright says the Denim and Diamonds proceeds will pay for the first C-arm. Funds from the 2023 budget will be used to help buy the second C-arm. Speaking of next year, Wright says the fundraising focus for Denim and Diamonds will be determined later.
The C-arm order will be placed “shortly.” Delivery dates are pending because of supply chain concerns, but the goal is to have both onsite by the end of the year.
The current technology on site is about 20 years old, so the new equipment is welcome. C-arms are used for real-time imaging during surgeries, and the new technology will offer images that are much clearer than the current equipment. Invasive cardiology, general surgery and orthopedics will benefit from this technology.
