The buzz is building at Emporia State University.
Students begin officially moving into their new dorm spaces Thursday, and Director of Residential Life Administration Cass Coughlin is ready. He says things are getting back to the pre-pandemic flow after two years of adjustments.
Students will use Highland Street to get to campus. Check-in is at the Memorial Union, where students will get Hornet cards and room keys before going to their dorms to meet with the Hornet Helpers. Arrival times are staggered differently than they have been in years past
Meanwhile, orientation begins Thursday as well. Center for Student Involvement Senior Director Blythe Eddy says there will be special activities Thursday evening for students to enjoy.
Also, ESU will have its Fall Kickoff at 2 pm Thursday at the Memorial Union Webb Hall, including remarks from President Ken Hush, Honors College Dean Gary Wyatt, Interim Provosts Joan Brewer and Brent Thomas, Faculty Senate President Shawn Keough, Staff Senate President Josh Jenek, Associated Student Government leaders Bella Price and Hailey Kisner and Vice President for Enrollment Management Shelly Gehrke.
Welcome Week starts on the first day of class Monday, including the Welcome back Block Party in the 800 and 900 blocks of Commercial Street on Monday
