There were laughs, live music and of course plenty of beef at day two of the 2022 Flint Hills Beef Fest Saturday.
The day’s activities kicked off at the Bowyer Community Building with a brand new cornhole tournament. After throwing some bags, competitors and hungry residents made their way inside to enjoy some fresh cooked hamburgers courtesy of the Beef Fest Committee.
Once again, KVOE staff manned the grill and cooked up hundreds of burgers. With clear skies and mild temperatures, KVOE Station Manager Ron Thomas called it a good day.
Once the sun began to set, activities shifted over the Anderson Building for the annual Beef Fest Awards Ceremony and steak dinner. After filling up on fresh grass-fed steak, those in attendance were treated to some entertainment from Kentucky-based comedian Etta May.
As if that weren’t enough, fest-goers then danced the night away at the Bowyer Building with a live concert courtesy of the Steve Kile Band. Beef Fest President Scott Case gave this year an A+ rating and says it felt good to be back to normal this year.
Beef Fest will officially wrap up Sunday with a golf tournament at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course. The tournament will begin at 8:30 am.
