Saturday was filled with food, fun and fast-pitch softball in the second annual Latin Legends Games that took place at the Lorenzo Delgado Sports Complex.
After holding the event in 2021, tournament director David Rodriguez says the word got out to more people to attend when this year’s event was announced.
With more people being able to attend the festivities, Rodriguez says he appreciates the support he gets from attendees either from Emporia or from across the state.
Rod Martinez of the Latino Baseball History Project says a book is in development involving fast-pitch softball and Rodriguez is making a contribution and writing a chapter about Emporia.
The book is set for release in 2023.
During the event’s opening ceremonies, five inductees were announced into the Emporia Hall of Fame museum. Two of them are Emporians Paul and Chris Rodriguez. The others are Manuel Jaso, Steven Jaso and Paul Vega.
