Preliminary work has been underway on Emporia’s annual Street Rehab project for a few weeks now. The core of the project officially begins this week.
City Communications Manager Christine Johnson says concrete repairs will begin the process. Other work will include mill and asphalt overlay, concrete pavement and handicapped-accessible ramp repairs. The list of roads includes:
*Ninth from Elm to Prairie and from West to Lawrence
*Fourteenth from State to Neosho
*Fifteenth from Merchant to Center
*Cottonwood from 10th to 12th
*Grove from Lincoln to Garfield
*Neosho from 12th to 15th
*Prairie Lane from the cul-de-sac to Prairie Street
*Rural from Third to Sixth
*Sherwood Way from Mayfair to Washington Park
*South Merchant from the cul-de-sac to West Logan
*Woodland from Ninth to 12th
The Street Rehab zones were announced in mid-June. The Street Rehab work overlaps the city’s resurfacing work on West Sixth Avenue between Neosho and Prairie as part of its annual involvement in the Kansas Department of Transportation City Connecting Link Improvement Program, or CCLIP. The CCLIP work should go through at least mid-October.
