District Judge Jeff Larson has been appointed to serve as the Chief Judge of the 5th Judicial District.
The Kansas Supreme Court announced the appointment via a news release Monday afternoon. Larson is a graduate of Emporia State University and Washburn School of Law.
Larson operated his own private practice for two decades before he was appointed to the bench and has served as a judge in the Fifth Judicial District since 2007.
Larson’s responsibilities will include overseeing general assignments within the district and general supervisory authority over administrative and clerical functions in addition to his normal judicial responsibilities.
Larson will begin his new role effective Sept. 4 and will serve a one-year term through Dec. 31, 2023. Larson will oversee both Chase and Lyon counties.
