Newman Regional Health’s new C-Arm machines are on the way.
During the Newman Board of Trustees meeting this past Wednesday, trustees approved the purchase of the C-Arms with Denim and Diamonds funds covering the cost of the first and 2023 budget dollars covering the cost of the second. Newman CEO Bob Wright says having both arms in the hospital will increase efficiency across multiple specialties.
A timeline for when the C-Arms will be delivered and in place is currently pending. With the c-arms now on the way, the hospital is looking ahead to what equipment may be up for upgrades next. Wright says there are no concrete plans at this time, however, he expects the hospital’s CT and MRI machines may be the likely options as each are approaching their end of life.
With that in mind, Wright says now may be the best time to move forward with a purchase of either machine as the price has been steadily dropping in recent years. Surprisingly, Wright says the decrease in price may be attributed to the advancement of technology.
For the month of July, the hospital had a net income of $113,000, which is favorable to a budgeted loss of $382,000. Year-to-date, the hospital has an operating loss of $3.8 million which Wright attributes primarily to higher contract labor.
The board of trustees will next convene in October.
