The state’s winning streak when it comes to tax receipts is now at 25 months.
It has been since July 2020 that tax receipts have not come in higher than expected, and that trend continued for August as tax revenues were $11 million over official estimates and almost $24 million higher than they were a year ago.
The August total was $652.5 million.
Individual income taxes were at $307 million, above estimates by 2.4 percent. Corporate tax collections were $15.5 million, above projections by 3 percent. Retail sales tax was almost $240 million, above estimates by 2 percent. Compensating use tax collections slipped below expectations by $1.7 million.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly says the reason for the ongoing success with revenues is the state’s overall policy of giving businesses a stable economic environment.
