Three vehicles, a utility pole and a business were ultimately part of a crash near Emporia’s Sixth and Rural on Tuesday afternoon.
Emporia Police and Emporia Fire went to the intersection shortly before 3 pm, finding a pickup, an SUV crashed into a light pole and a car backed up against TP Jewelry and Pawn.
Officers on site say the driver of the SUV, which was westbound on Sixth, apparently had an unspecified medical situation on approach to Rural. After colliding with the pickup in the intersection, the SUV picked up speed and hit an unoccupied car before slamming into the light pole.
The SUV driver was hurt and treated on scene before getting taken to Newman Regional Health for additional treatment. The truck driver was not hurt. There was minimal damage to TP Jewelry and Pawn.
Names have not been released.
