Three Emporia High teams are in action on Thursday.
Headlining is the Spartan boys soccer team, who plays their second match in the Titan Classic against Dodge City. The Red Demons are ranked second in Class 6A.
Coach Victor Ibarra says the Spartans have a challenge in front of them.
Junior Zander Keosybounheuang says this match will help them when it matters the most.
The Spartans take a 3-0 record into Thursday’s 4 p.m. match in Wichita.
The Emporia High girls tennis team will be in participating in a quad hosted by Spring Hill.
Senior Kailey Reynoso will be playing at No. 2 doubles with her teammate Ashlyn Foraker. Reynoso says communication is something the duo is wanting to get better at.
The Spartans will also send Kali Keough at No. 1 singles, Darian Chadwick at No. 2 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Kaitlyn Velasquez and Lillee Frank.
Matches will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Spring Hill.
The third team in action is the Emporia High girls golf team as it’ll be playing in the Topeka-Seaman Invitational.
Junior Ella Fessler says the Spartans are confident after winning their home tournament last Tuesday.
