Allen has had several reports of structure fires that turned out to be related to a town project Thursday.

12:30 pm Thursday: Reported structure fire in Allen turns out to be sewer smoke test
Reports of a structure fire in north Lyon County turned out to be something else entirely Thursday.
Fire crews from several Lyon County departments — Emporia, Allen-Admire and Reading, were toned out to the 200 block of East Fourth in Allen a bit after 11:30 am after reports of smoke filling the basement at that address. Fire crews were quickly downgraded and later canceled after learning the smoke came from a city sewer test that involves smoke.
KVOE News has reached out to the City Clerk’s office for more information about the sewer smoke test.
