Change is coming to Hetlinger Developmental Services at the end of this year.
Longtime director Trudy Hutchinson is retiring after 44 years with the agency. Hetlinger has announced the hire of Jill Burton as executive director.
Hutchinson helped Hetlinger in a rechartering process in the 1990s. She also oversaw a renovation in 1996 of the Hetlinger facility, built in 1965, She also led a successful $2.7 million capital campaign to double the size of the current facility in 2012 and the Planting Hope capital campaign to add an indoor garden and nursery, which will open next year.
Burton, meanwhile, brings over 20 years of nonprofit management including development to the table. She has held several roles at Camp Wood YMCA, including development officer and senior director of operations, and she has also worked at the Emporia State Foundation.
Hutchinson will now serve as transition director through the end of this year.
