Trial is coming in federal court next month for a Chase County man accused of having and trying to distribute child pornography.
Walter Haskin, age 26 of Strong City, has a jury trial set to begin Oct. 11 at the US Courthouse in Wichita. There will be a status hearing Sept. 26 in Wichita before trial begins.
Haskin is accused of trying to upload child porn involving a 6-year-old child to a Dropbox account in mid-November. He is also accused of having child porn images on his cell phone.
Baseline sentences are 5-20 years in federal prison for the attempted distribution count and up to 20 years in prison for the possession count upon conviction. Because Haskin is a registered sex offender, according to the federal complaint, Haskin could face 15-40 years in prison if convicted of attempted distribution and 10-20 years if convicted of possession.
