The USD 253 Board of Education could finalize the 2022-23 budget during its regular meeting Wednesday night.
Board members will hold a public hearing after which time they may approve the budget which currently totals just over $42.8 million with a mill levy of 55 mills. The budget is a decrease of $2.1 million from fiscal year 2022 which the district has attributed in part to bond and interest aid falling 22 percent this year.
Board members may also approve the district’s local option budget, a property taxation policy for exceeding the revenue neutral rate, the 2023 district health insurance renewal and a board policy update. Board members will also receive a construction update from McCownGordon related to the multi-million dollar Building for the Future bond renovation project.
The board will also hold an executive session for the purpose of superintendent evaluation. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm inside of the Mary Herbert Education Center.
