The KVOE listening area is getting some much-needed rainfall Thursday.
The KVOE studios have received around 0.50 inches as part of activity since midnight. The Emporia Municipal Airport is at 0.42 inches since midnight. Other totals:
*Ninth and Burns: 1 inch
*10th and Weaver: 0.55 inches
*1100 block Constitution: 0.55 inches
*South and Sylvan: 0.60 inches
*Allen: 0.75 inches
*Americus: 0.75 inches
*Between Hartford and Olpe: 0.35 inches
*Neosho Rapids: 0.60 inches
*Olpe: 0.50 inches
*Plymouth: 0.50 inches
*2 miles east of Strong City: 0.80 inches
Rain is supposed to continue through mid-afternoon Thursday and could resume early Friday. It comes too late to adjust the US Drought Monitor’s weekly map released Thursday, with abnormally dry to severe drought conditions across the area north to south.
