Area school districts are starting to announce their official headcount data for the academic year.
USD 251 North Lyon County saw an increase of over 30 students from 316 to 348 year-to-year. Most of that increase — over 20 students — came with the addition of a new early childhood center, but Superintendent Bob Blair says there was a bump in another early grade.
Numbers aren’t immediately available for USD 252 Southern Lyon County, but the district had an increase as well. Superintendent Mike Argabright says it’s good to see the increase.
Elsewhere:
*USD 243 Lebo-Waverly was flat with nearly 500 students total, including 441 for K-12 grades
*USD 284 Chase County is up from 374 to 387, with increases at both the elementary and junior-senior high school buildings
*USD 417 is up as well with almost 800 students total in all grades
USD 253 Emporia won’t announce its data until after Oct. 4. Director of Community Relations Lyndel Landgren says the district won’t have unaudited headcount until then due to its size. Emporia High, however, remains in Class 5A with nearly 1,300 students and is the third-largest Class 5A high school, based on data released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
Enrollment numbers for Emporia State Unversity and Flint Hills Technical College will be announced Sept. 29 by the Kansas Board of Regents.
