CareArc is getting ready for two big vaccination clinics.
The first is Tuesday as CareArc gets school-age children up to date on their traditional school vaccines in partnership with USD 253 Emporia Public Schools. Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern says it’s time to re-emphasize these vaccines after two-plus years of COVID-19 vaccinations dominating the discussion.
The clinic is from 6-8 pm at CareArc. Pneumonia, chickenpox, HPV, meningitis, MMR — measles mumps rubella — tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, polio, rotavirus and haemophilus influenzae b vaccines will all be available.
Any local child behind on their vaccinations can get shots through this clinic. Students also do not need to be CareArc patients to use this event. Marketing Manager Justin Ogleby says walk-ins are welcomed and parents will need to register their children at check-in. Children need to be accompanied by parents or guardians and charges associated with vaccinations will be applied.
The second clinic is the drive-thru flu shot clinic from 7:30 am to 4 pm Oct. 7, this time under CareArc’s west canopy. The flu shot is free with most insurance providers. For uninsured residents, the flu shot will cost $30 and is payable by cash or check. Residents can fill out the needed paperwork online by going to www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org.
About 250 doses will be available for the flu shot clinic.
