The Lyon County Fairgrounds will be busy Saturday.
The 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be taking place beginning at 8:45 am with registration, followed by a special ceremony at 9:45 am and the walk at 10 am. Organizer Erin Blocker says the walk will again take place on the path around the fairgrounds.
In addition to the walk, Blocker says they will have several engaging activities ongoing at the same time.
The walk will coincide with a Community Health Fest inside of the Anderson Building. The Health Fest is being organized in cooperation between the Emporia State Health and Human Performance class, overseen by Dr. Jennifer Thomas, and the Emporia Community Foundation.
Dr. Thomas says this will be a revamped version of the community’s Fall Health Fair which had to be taken off the calendar the past two years due to COVID-19.
The Health Fest will begin at 11 am and run until 1 pm with several local vendors, health agencies and prize drawings included in the day’s schedule of events.
