An early 2-0 lead helped the Emporia High boys soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Manhattan Thursday night.
The Spartans got a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of play, one each from Zander Keosybohnheuang and Gio Garcilazo. Garcilazo said it was important to get off to a fast start.
Manhattan cut the deficit to 2-1 with 25:55 left in the first half.
EHS got a goal in the 47th minute from Jefry Linares to extend the lead back to two.
Coach Victor Ibarra said the Spartans did what they need to do early in the match.
EHS is now 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in Centennial League play. They’ll host Wichita Trinity on Tuesday.
