Three people were injured and at least one transported following a two-vehicle crash southwest of Emporia Saturday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash log, the accident occurred on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 121 northbound, six miles southwest of the Emporia tollgate, shortly after 7 am. KHP reports that a northbound 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 23-year-old Alejandro Cisneros of Kansas City left the roadway for unknown reasons, overcorrected and went across both lanes of traffic.
The Silverado struck a barrier wall and overturned. At the same time a 2015 Dodge Durango driven by 58-year-old Arturo Balderas of Fargo, North Dakota, was southbound and struck debris from the accident.
Cisneros and a passenger, 23-year-old Abigal Jurado of Kansas City, had complaints of pain while a second passenger, 25-year-old Marco Jurado of Kansas City, suffered suspected minor injuries. Marco Jurado was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment.
KHP does not say if Abigail Jurado and Cisneros were transported. Balderas was unharmed. All involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
