Members of the Emporia State University music department came together Saturday evening to share their art and honor a legendary figure in the music scene.
The department hosted its annual Music Gala Benefit Concert inside of Albert Taylor Hall.
ESU Music Professor Gary Ziek says that aside from celebrating music, the Gala is also an important resource for music students.
As part of the event, Emporia Native and renowned musician Jack Mouse was inducted into the Frank A. Beach Hall of Distinction. Mouse says he feels honored to receive the distinction because its one he shares with his longtime mentor Roy Burns.
All proceeds from the gala will go to benefit scholarships for ESU music students. Totals are currently pending.
