Two vehicles were involved in a morning crash south of Emporia Wednesday.
Emporia/Lyon County EMS, Olpe Fire and Lyon County Deputies were all called to the intersection of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 90 roughly 8 miles south of Emporia around 8:20 am. According to Lyon County Deputy Jeff Rodriguez, 16-year-old Zoey Vogts was traveling northbound on K99 in a 1984 Chevrolet pickup truck.
At the same time, a 2018 Ford F150 driven by 31-year-old Chase Crook of Olpe was stopped on K99 preparing to make a left turn onto Road 90. Vogts was unable to stop in time and collided with the back of Crook’s pickup.
Vogts was treated at the scene and released with so-called non-life threatening injuries. Crook was reportedly unharmed.
Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Crews were called to the intersection of Road 90 and Kansas Highway 99 just over 8 miles south of Emporia around 8:20 am. Full details are currently pending, however, at least one person, an unnamed female, was involved.
