Despite chilly conditions, the staff of CareArc was out and about manning the health center’s annual flu shot clinic Friday.
CareArc Community Health Manager Melissa Smith says with the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting the health conversation for the past two years, it is likely some people may have overlooked their flu shots. She says that is no longer the case as they have seen a solid turnout for the clinic the past two years.
Smith says it is important for everyone to get vaccinated against both the flu and COVID as there are still some concerns of a potential pandemic. She also reports that the flu season has begun a bit earlier than normal this year.
While she could not point to an exact cause, Smith tells KVOE News increased social interaction over the past year could be playing a role.
If you were unable to attend the drive-thru clinic but would still like to get your vaccine you can schedule an appointment online at carearc.org/vaccinations.
