The good news with the rain is we avoided any severe weather that was a possibility. Unfortunately, the rain fell after the US Drought Monitor’s data collection deadline Tuesday, so it won’t have any impact on Thursday’s weekly map. Moderate to extreme drought continues across the KVOE listening area north to south, with exceptional drought just south of the listening area.
The National Weather Service says the Emporia Municipal Airport is officially 1.12 inches below normal for October before the rainfall Wednesday morning. The airport is also nearly 5 inches below normal for the year with a total of 25.06 inches of rain collected.
