Outdoor burning will be banned or highly discouraged through the afternoon Sunday into the early morning hours Monday for the entire KVOE listening area.
Increasing humidity levels will likely be offset by ongoing dry vegetation, warmer-than-normal high temperatures in the 80s and wind gusts up to 50 mph, setting the table for rapid fire growth and unpredictable fire behavior.
Red flag warnings are in place for Chase and Morris counties from 11 am to 8 pm which means automatic burn bans for affected counties while they are in effect. Chase County is already in a county-announced burn ban until further notice.
Wind advisories also affect the area Sunday. Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in an advisory from noon Sunday until 1 am Monday. Chase and Greenwood counties are in a separate advisory from 10 am Sunday to 1 am Monday.

Fire activity Saturday was minimal, with small fires reported in Chase and Morris counties. No injuries or structure damage was reported with either incident.
